China’s National Image Puzzle
China’s National Image Puzzle
This book investigates China's tricky national image puzzle, that is, "China's image of herself and other nations' view of her is out of alignment" (Ramo, 2007: 12), with a focus on how French news represents China in the environmental problem domain. It shows how foreign news media builds China's national image and demonstrates how news media frames environmental issues such as climate change or pollution
that constitute the widely accepted global challenge and threat for the 21st century.
The investigation is taken with a Critical Discourse Analysis approach and reveals how the use of language alone, regardless of the facts and arguments given, influences readers in their perception of a country.
