A Pictorial Biography of Liang Shuming

Liang Shuming (1893-1988) was a modern Neo-Confucian philosopher, educationalist and major advocate of rural construction movement in the 1920s~30s. He was a maverick scholar and practitioner devoting himself to the solution of China’s problems at the critical moments of national crisis, acclaimed as the last Confucian by Guy Salvatore Alitto. He believed that “Rural education is rural construction; education bit by bit is construction bit by bit.”
